You know what is actually pretty frickin' awesome? Cauliflower! In this particular recipe cauliflower is roasted with a blend of spices and maple syrup. It is transformed into a fine dish! This dazzling sliced cauliflower rich with colors and flavors will excite and be fancy enough for a dinner party or simple enough for a everyday supper as well. Serve over rice!
I also took left over marinade and covered sliced onion chunks and sauteed them in olive oil for onions on the side. Delish! Serve over a bed of Jasmine rice and top with your favorite kimchi. Voila!
1 Small Head of Cauliflower (recipe can be easily doubled)
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
2 Tsp. Maple Syrup
1 Tsp. Freshly Grated Ginger
1 Tsp. Cumin Seed (optional ground cumin)
1/2 Tsp. Turmeric
Salt and Pepper
Directions - Roast in 350 degree oven
Remove leaves and trim stem of cauliflower. Slice into 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick steaks. Season each slice with salt and pepper on both sides.
Add 1 Tbsp. olive oil to frying pan. Sear cauliflower steaks over medium heat until golden brown.
Stir together olive oil, maple syrup, ginger, cumin seed, turmeric and brush onto both sides of steaks.
Transfer steaks to baking sheet.
Roast in oven for 15 minutes or until tender.
When slicing cauliflower into steaks, you will end up with several loose florets which you can use another time.
Seared cauliflower steaks sprinkled with salt and pepper.
Brushed on spice blend for flavoring.
Roasted to perfection and ready to devour! Garnish with kimchi.
