BREAKFAST with granola
I love fruit. I love yogurt. And I certainly love granola. So I decided to aim for a healthy-ish version of a “fruit and yogurt” parfait to make at home.
Enjoy this breakfast whether its in a jar or a bowl,  with a make-ahead recipe like this to keep your healthy eating on track.  I can sometimes be a little lazy when it comes to making healthy choices. Our latest breakfast love affair is with this nutritious whole milk yogurt sweetened with maple syrup. You can even add the dry ingredients (granola) to multiple jars at once and storing until needed makes these wholesome jars even speedier to prepare the night before. The jar provides a tight-fitting lid, is transportable, fun to eat out of, and goes right to the dishwasher.

You could eat this treat anywhere.  You could eat this on the subway, at the gym, in the sun, in class or anywhere your heart desires.  I just seal it up with my lid and pop it in my bag to go.  Just don’t eat it when your driving!!

Ingredients for 1- 8 or 16oz Jar (recipe can be doubled easily)
1/2 cup whole milk plain yogurt
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon cardamon
1/8 teaspoon turmeric
1- 1 1/2 tablespoons very dark maple syrup

Add any or all of these good for you nuts, seeds and/or fruit
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1/4 cup blueberries
1/4 cup raspberries
1/2 Tbsp goji berries
1/2 Tbsp pumpkin seeds
1/2 Tbsp sliced almonds
1/2 Tbsp coconut shavings
1/2 cup granola

Directions
Place the yogurt in a bowl or jar and add spices and maple syrup. Stir to mix.
Add the washed fruit.
Top with the seeds, nuts, coconut, and granola.
Serve and enjoy!

BREAKFAST with overnight oats
If you are not a morning person this breakfast is all about you! Learning how to make overnight oats was a real game changer for me. It's the perfect healthy breakfast I can batch out for the week and simply toss in my bag as I run out the door.

Ingredients
1 clean jar with lid
1/2 cup rolled oats (1/2 cup = about half the jar)
1 cup milk (soy milk, almond milk)
2 tbsp nuts and/or seeds
1 tsp cinnamon (or other spices like cardamom or vanilla extract)
1-2 tsp very dark maple syrup
Optional:
2 tsp chia seeds
slices of fruit
fresh or frozen berries

Directions
Throw everything in a jar, screw the lid on top, shake, and off it goes into the fridge. The next morning add a dash of milk if so desire, a sweetener,  and enjoy.
